Non-Surgical Skin Tightening with Radiage

There are many non-surgical techniques available to tighten the skin without surgery. While many companies and physicians claim to get the results as good as “surgical face lift”, these false claims are simply misleading. Surgical face lift gives the most dramatic results whereas the non-surgical techniques are less effective - but you do not have to go through surgery. The most popular is the “Radiofrequency” technique in which a machine like “Thermage^®” or “Radiage^®” by Ellman®, U.S.A., is used to treat the loose skin. In truth, all that radiofrequency does, is to heat the dermis layer (deeper layer) of the skin in a very controlled way. This layer of the skin contains special proteins called collagen (the structure that keeps the skin tight). With advancing age the collagen is depleted and the Radiofrequency heating can stimulate the skin to make more of this collagen – giving you the tighter skin. This process of making the new collagen by your skin takes time – a few months to sometimes a few years. So why do we see the immediate improvement with Radiofrequency? But the longer lasting results will take time to appear as the new collagen will continue to form. Tattoo removal can be performed with the old fashioned surgerywhere the tattoo was removed with all the involved skin, replacing the tattoo with a scar. Generally black, blue and red tattoos can be removed very effectively, whereas the green and yellow tattoos are somewhat difficult to treat. Treatment is painless as the local anesthesia is given to put the affected area to sleep, and the treatment takes 15-30 minutes to perform depending upon the size of the tattoo. Patient can go home mmediately after the procedure and ca resume the normal actibities immediately. A series of treatments usually one month apart, are usually needed to erase most of the tattoos.

Q: Is laser hair removal painful?

A: No. A special local/topical anesthetizing cream is applied prior to laser hair removal that makes the procedure almost completely painless. Some patients with extra sensitive skin may experience a mild needle prick sensation ---- but not pain.

Q: How Many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

A:Well, it varies from person to person. The correct assessment can be made only after a thorough dermatological evaluation. More specifically, especially in females, increased hair growth over the face and body could be secondary to some hormonal imbalance which must be taken care along with the laser hair removal.
